Pomegranates

I started feeding Disney pomegranates a few weeks ago. He really enjoys them. I'm not very crazy of the huge mess they make.

These two pictures show Disney enjoying some for breakfast. I cut off the top of one, and let him eat it while I got his morning food prepared.

Score: Disney-1 Lamp-0 Opps!

Disney had his first accident. He flew down from his cage and attempted to land on a plastic cup. The cup tipped over, Disney knocked into the lamp and became very scared. He landed on one side of the Living Room on the floor - I picked him up. He was still nervous and flew to the other side of the Living room - landing by the front door on the floor. When I went over to him to pick him up he said "peek-a-boo"! How can you be mad after that!

Looks like I'll be buying a new set of lamps!

Disney's First Vet Visit

Disney will be one year old on July 30 and I wanted to have him checked out to make sure he is well and that I am giving him what he needs.

He gave me a tough time getting him his crate. He knew something was up, and did not want to step up from his cage. I walked away from him and had him fly to me. That worked - eventually. Even though I covered his carrier, he was still afraid. He eventually settled down at the Vet's office and started making a noise I have never heard before. It sounded exactly like a baby chick.

I am very pleased to say Disney is in excellent health. He behaved very well at the Vet's office, even though he did not want to get on the scale to be weighed. I happened to weigh him this morning and he was 486 grams.

The Vet checked his eyes, mouth and other areas. Disney was not very fond of being felt under his wings and other areas.

Needless to say, Disney was very happy to get home and back to his cage. That is the first place he flew to after I let him out of his carrier.

Unstacking

Here is Disney taking beads off some colored posts. I think he enjoys hearing the noise they make when they hit the floor.

I'll try to teach him his colors next and have him stack them on the right colored posts.

Freaked Out!

I was playing with Disney and some of his new toys tonight when he suddenly ran behind me and climbed up the sofa, and then flew to his cage - going to the back corner of it. I did not know at first what scared him. I watched him looking around and he kept looking at the ceiling. It was then I saw a small spider. Disney went back to playing after I "took care" of the spider!

Here are few pictures of Disney playing with a few of his new toys. I got him more foot toys because they keep him occupied for a while!

Disney Foraging

He is trying to get one of the almonds or walnuts that I hid inside the box.

I've been bad! Not updating Disney's Blog as often as I originally planned.

Disney is doing very well. He is a very active and vocal bird - whistling, saying what a good boy he is, saying hello and meowing. He has few other phrases but I can't figure out what he is saying.

In the morning he likes to eat some cantaloupe as shown in one of the pictures. He has recently started doing more climbing around the outside of his cage. He likes to stay on the cage door eating food from his bowls. He has gotten very fond of almonds.

Can you tell he is right handed?

Disney is 6-Months old

Disney is 6 months old today. He is doing very well. He seems to be very happy and content. He is very excited to come out of cage every time. He weighs 498 grams. He continues to enjoy his evening hand feedings, and head scratching sessions before bed time. He says "Such a Good Boy" very well and is trying to say a few other phrases that are not very clear at this point. His whistling is exceptional. He mimics the microwave beep. I am really glad I bought the large cage.

Allison did an excellent job caring for Disney when I was away for three days earlier this month. We are very proud of her.
